In the future, it will be a challenge to prepare “foundations” using low-temperature processes on flexible substrates such as plastics.
There is a cutting-edge technology that uses the “printing” process to replace the traditional vacuum process. Organic thin-film transistor technology can be processed by low-temperature and low-cost solution method or printing process. Using a tape-and-roll process similar to the newspaper printing process, the TFT “foundation” can be “printed” on the surface of any material in a large area, and the display screen can be like a canvas. curly. At present, this technology is mainly in the hands of countries such as Europe, America, Japan and South Korea. Feng Linrun, a Huazhong University of Science and Technology undergraduate alumnus from Huanggang, has served as the vice president of the company after graduating from Shanghai Jiaotong University with a Ph.D.
Also in the UK, Wuhan Science and Technology Incubator Co., Ltd., whose chairman is Wang Weiguo from Hubei, is stationed in the London Science and Technology City, and has built the largest technology innovation center in Europe, “Kekong Global”. In April last year, two “nine-headed birds” met in London during the East Lake High-tech Zone’s overseas talent recruitment activity. At the end of 2017, Kekong made a cash equity investment, and Feng Linrun served as the CEO of Wuhan Xinqu Chuangrou Optoelectronics Technology Co., Ltd., registered in Han, and the company’s valuation exceeded 100 million yuan. In an interview with a reporter from Changjiang Daily on January 30, he introduced that the British team, including fellows of the Royal Society of Chemistry, British Physical Society, and former head of the Philips display team, have all will join his team. The ownership of more than 10 global authorized patents are all transferred to Hubei, filling the gap in China.
According to Feng Linrun, it is estimated that by the end of this year, the pilot line of this technology will be completed in Xianning, Hubei. He said that Hubei’s new display industry chain is complete. One year after the completion of the pilot line, China’s first flexible display using organic thin film transistor technology prepared by the solution method may be born in Hubei. The core semiconductor components manufactured by this technology can be used in many fields including flexible displays and biosensors.
